Tinnitus or ringing in the ears

Tinnitus or "ringing in the ears" is the perception of sound in one or both ears with no apparent cause for the sound. Tinnitus is generally thought to be a symptom of something wrong in the auditory nerve or in the part of the brain that processes sound. Tinnitus usually sounds like ringing, buzzing, hissing, roaring or clicking. The sounds can be heard intermittently or constantly at different volume levels.

Some of the most common causes of tinnitus are:

  • Head or neck injuries

  • Natural aging

  • Medication (ototoxicity)

  • Sudden loud noises

  • Medical conditions

  • Long-term exposure to overpressure noises

  • There are many other causes of tinnitus, some remain unknown to science.

Tinnitus symptoms range from a mere annoyance to completely overwhelming. Tinnitus is most noticeable in a quiet environment, thus it can create sleeping disturbances that lead to long-term fatigue.

At Atlanta Mobile Hearing, we understand how tinnitus can be a tiring and frustrating problem. Most of the hearing aids that we represent, come with tinnitus reduction technology as a standard feature. Using Notch filters and various wave patterns of pink and white noise, we can potentially make your tinnitus disappear.

Let Atlanta Mobile Hearing help you manage your tinnitus and give you relief.
